Requien Museum – Natural History Museum

A Museum of France, centre for research, study, documentation and education on natural history. Displays of fossils, minerals, naturalised animals.
It has over 900,000 specimens and is one of the biggest Museums outside of Paris. Many different exhibitions. Large research library, reserves open to researchers only.
Museum is free and open to the public.
The Requien Museum is named after its founder, Esprit Requien (1788 - 1851) who left his collections and library to the Calvet Museum in 1840. From a very early age, Esprit Requien devoted his time to botany, malacology and paleontology. The Requien Museum moved to the 18th -century Raphaélis de Soissans house, next to the Calvet Museum, in 1943.
Museum is free and open to the public.
