In the midst of vineyards to the north of Orange, the eco-friendly hotel in this splendid historic château has opened its own all-organic spa.
New, quirky accommodation has just opened this summer in the heart of the famous vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Les Cabanes des Grands Cépages. 10 luxurious wooden cabins have been constructed on the turquoise waters of Lac de la Lionne, whether on stilts, floating on the water or semi-troglodyte. Between now and 2019, 10 more cabins will be built.
Welcome on board the “Chardonnay,” the latest addition to the Grand Bateaux de Provence fleet, recently moored opposite the Cité des Papes! It’s a nice, manageable size with 23 comfortable, double cabins. From April onwards, it will offer 2, 3 or 4 day cruise packages on the Rhône, Christmas and New Year cruises, and is also available for private hire.
The village of Crillon le Brave, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, is already well known to travel operators, thanks to its hotel of the same name. Now a new hotel, la Maison de Crillon, has taken up its rightful place in the village, easily holding its own against its exclusive neighbour. 11 bedrooms, combining unstated luxury, minimalist design and a zen atmosphere, await fans of beautiful destinations and the great outdoors.
Le Mas des Herbes Blanches, located near Joucas, a picturesque village close to Gordes, enjoys a commanding, picture-postcard view. This exceptionally beautiful establishment, which was one of the first Relais & Châteaux hotels to open in the Luberon National Park, has been undergoing a year-long development and refurbishment program. It reopened in June 2016, now offering 48 rooms instead of the 15 original bedrooms.
Le Mas des Herbes Blanches has extended into a series of small, interconnecting dry stone houses, redolent of the architecture of traditional provençal stone huts, bringing the total number of rooms from 15 to 48.
The décor in the main building has been modernised without sacrificing any of the building’s original charm. There are now fewer bedrooms and suites in the main building but they are more generously sized; the restaurant has extended its outside space, with the addition of a panoramic terrace.
Complementing the outdoor pool, there is a spa with an indoor pool boasting an outstanding view over the Provençal countryside, as well as a range of essential well-being equipment.
Finally, the five hectare grounds are now home to a collection of small country houses that merge seamlessly with the fragrant Mediterranean scrubland. These buildings which are divided into flats, with their own pools, can be hired for exclusive use, a perfect solution for those looking for tranquility combined with luxury service.

Located just outside Gordes, one of France’s most beautiful villages, the Petit Palais d’Aglaé is a new high-end establishment that offers 16 colourful bedrooms, a gourmet restaurant and above all breath-taking views onto the Luberon hills. A new, future Luberon hotspot, newly opened in June 2016 and with a spa due to open in 2017.
Style and elegance are the watchwords of this new Luberon hotel. The design is somewhat unconventional, while respecting the identity of its dry-stone architecture building and its surroundings.
The building has 16 bedrooms, a sitting room-bar area with fireplace and restaurant serving fresh produce from the hotel’s organic vegetable garden. Guests can enjoy the indoor and outdoor terraces with panoramic view of the Luberon, the terraced gardens filled with intimate nooks and crannies and large pool… It’s a wonderfully peaceful location, ideal for relaxing.
The interior is decorated in sumptuous velvets and satin fabrics, while linen and cotton are used for outdoor areas. This beautiful house dating from 1785 in the heart of the village has just been completely renovated and given a new look. 17 rooms and suites decorated in the French Napoleon III style with a few Art Deco touches, and a promising new “brasserie chic” style restaurant… We love it!
There’s no shortage of attractions in the South Luberon region, around Lourmarin, and we’re excited to introduce the very latest: the Domaine de Fontenille estate.
