Vibrations is the name of the brand new 360-degree show held in the main courtyard of the Popes’ Palace from mid-August to mid-October. To be enjoyed again in 2019!
Spectators will enter the gates to the Popes’ Palace at nightfall in the height of summer and enjoy a mesmerising “sensuround” experience that reawakens the sense of wonder we had as children. Vibrations, a brand new 360-degree son et lumière spectacular, is staged in the Palace’s main courtyard from 14 August to 13 October, ending several years’ run of Luminessences, which showcased momentous times in the city’s history.
A sequence of nine tableaux share the common theme of a butterfly. The butterfly effect, the vibratory mechanics of music, the colour palette of Provençal painters, the Rhone and its aquatic realm, the Mont Ventoux – fires or ice, wine and the vibrations of crystalware, the vibrations of bodies and hearts… all leading up to the final climax. This whirlwind of colour and sound draws spectators along on a thrilling and magical journey.
Vibrations was designed by Allumeurs d’Images (also responsible for Luminessences at the Popes’ Palace in previous years, along with light shows in the cathedrals of Nantes, Bayeux and Chartres) with staging by Blachère Events, an audiovisual production company that specialises in 3D projection mapping and have done light projections on the town halls of Epernay, Marseille, and Vincennes, among others.
August is also the time you can enjoy Helios, a series of free sound and light shows that enliven the city’s most beautiful squares after nightfall.
